PARTICIPATION IN THE INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL
OF CHORAL MUSIC VIVACE 2003 "JOY OF LIVING".

 

       The 4-th international festival of choral music Vivace 2003 "Joy of Living" took place in the city of Veszprem (Hungary) on July, 31 - August, 4, 2003. The Ivanovo chamber choir was the only singing group representing Russia at this festival. Among other participants of Vivace 2003 were representatives from the following countries:

- Akademski Pevski Zbor "France Preseren", Kranj, Slovenia - conductor: Primoz Kerstanj
- Chatham Chorale, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA - conductor: Margaret T. Bossi
- Cor de Cambra del Valles Oriental, Granollers, Catalunya/E - conductor: Josep Vila Jover
- "Dytiacha Opera" Kiev, Ukraine - conductor: Nataliya Nekchotyaeva
- Gizella Noi Kamarakorus, Veszprem, Hungary - conductor: Borbasne Gazdag Gabriella
- "Innamorati di Musica Girls' Choir", Melle, Belgium -conductor: Dirk Biesemans
- "Livzeme" Mixed Choir, Ventspils, Latvia - conductor: Daina Salmina


       The main venue of the festival was Veszprem City Culture Centre (Varosi Muvelodesi Kozpont) and also the Castle Open-air stage concert platform, as well as St Margaret Church of Veszprem and streets and squares of the city.

       The performances of the choirs were evaluated by the following international jury:

- Erdelyi, Agnes, artistic director of Vivace Festivals, conductor of the Veszprem City Choir, Hungary
- Sean Deibler, conductor of the Music Group of Philadelphia, USA
- Marcel Lambrichts, Belgium
- Lakner, Tamas, conductor of the Bach Singers Pecs, Hungary

The Ivanovo chamber choir was recognized as the best guest choir in the folklore category.

       Evgeny Bobrov was awarded with the international certificate "The Distiguished Conductor".

       The dynamic festival program also included sightseeing in Veszprem and swimming in warm waters of the lake Balaton at Alsoors and Balatonfured.

       In the final day of its concert tour the choir admired the historical landmarks of Budapest and was welcomed in the Russian Cultural Center at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Hungary afterwards.

       Following the invitation of the Hungarian Orthodox Church Administration the choir also had a chance to sing in the Dormition church in Budapest.
